In this course, we will examine the fundamentals of modern IT and discover how it delivers commercial value. You will create a technology strategy and action plan that you can apply to your own business. Scheduled every 4 weeks, and delivered in non technical language, this course is designed for business owners and management teams with limited or no prior experience of IT management. Attendance is limited to 2 attendees per business and no more than 6 businesses. £495 +VAT per session Content Session 1 – the true role of technology in business. We examine the cost / benefit tradeoff of technology investment, demonstrate why so many businesses fail to turn spend into improved performance and show you where to look for the same errors in your own organisation. Session 2 – data is king. You will understand the power of the data you already own and how proper management will dramatically improve your competitive position. Session 3 – the productive hour You will learn how to transform your team’s productivity and how to predict new efficiency opportunities as a standard part of your operations. Session 4 – the IT value pyramid pt. 1: hardware You will understand the role played by the computers, servers and network components from a management perspective Session 5 – the IT value pyramid pt. 2: software and services We will explain how your different software systems work together and add increasing degrees of functionality to your production environment. Session 6 - summary and action plan We will recap the learnings from the previous sessions and finish building a technology strategy and action plan for your business. We will also examine the IT management function in detail, and clarify the role of an IT support partner.
